It takes a lot of work and time to gather all the details about our education, work experience, interests or courses we have taken and put them into a concise CV. At the same time, it is very easy to make a mistake or leave something out. Take 10 minutes to give your CV a final check before you decide to send it in. It's worth it.
1. Carefully read the advertisement you are applying for
Read the job advert you are applying for carefully and think about how your professional experience as described in your CV looks and whether it fits with the context of the job offer. This will ensure that you meet the requirements for the role.
2. Check your CV for errors
Double-check your CV for typos, spelling or punctuation errors. It's also a good idea to make sure the font is uniform (if something is copied from another source) and check the formatting of the text. It is also very important to have your contact details correct. This type of error doesn't seem to be a hindrance, but the opposite is true. Removing them will present you as a reliable and professional person right from the start of the recruitment process.
3. Check the file name
Pay attention to the CV file name - avoid using the word "CV". It is worth adding your first and last name, which will make it easier for recruiters to find your CV later in the maze of others, e.g. "CV_Jan Kowalski". It's also a good idea to save the file as a PDF, which will allow you to open it on any device - laptop, smartphone, etc.
